Topic : "To Float or Not To Float"

The presentation will give audience information on naval architectural aspects of offshore project developments. The focus will be on decision process on why and when a floating platform is needed and what type of floating platform should be selected. Furthermore, the presentation will also touch some technical aspects of floating platform technology and what supports a naval architect normally provides in an offshore project development.

Short Biography of the Speaker:

Iwan Darajat Aryawan is USA (Urang Sunda Asli) with a Doctoral degree in Naval Architect – Floating Offshore Technology from University of Newcastle upon Tyne – the UK (2001). Iwan did the Undergraduate and Master degrees in Technische Universiteit in Delft – the Netherlands, faculty of Marine Technology and graduated in 1993. Iwan is also a Chartered Engineer (CEng) and Member of Royal Institute of Naval Architect (RINA). Currently, Iwan is part of Lloyds Register Offshore Technical Committee.
Over 20 years of experience in oil industry focused on floating offshore technology as a Research Associate at Newcastle University, Snr Naval Architect at Lloyds Register Aberdeen – Scotland the UK, and now working as Subject Matter Expert in Naval Architect at Chevron – Houston the USA. Involved in various offshore projects in North Sea, Gulf of Mexico, Brazil and West of Africa.
Iwan is married with two children, with active hobbies in sport and music.
