Topic : US Business Laws - Selected Topics in Agency and Contracts
Agency laws (principal gives certain authorities to the agent to carry out the interests of the principal in dealing with third parties) is very important in our daily life and can impact your employer, your business associates and your business. We have to exercise our utmost care in managing this agency relationship (intended and implied). In this brief workshop, we will discuss common issues related to the agency law.
Contract laws (and to some extent, extended to sales) are also part of our daily encounters and sometimes we have already done the “contracts” with third parties without our realizing that it is already on-going of performed (i.e. buying something from Walmart, agreeing with someone to help with the mosque cleaning etc). In this workshop, we will briefly discuss the elements of contract (offer-acceptance-consideration) and how we can manage our expectations so that we will not be in trouble (accused of breaching the terms of the contract: written or oral).
